Document A Week In Your Life

I am a huge fan of Ali Edwards. I check her blog daily. She taught a class at CKU a few years ago called A Week In The Life. I printed out all the instructions and was totally going to do it. Like everything else, it fell by the wayside. She is not teaching that class anymore, but she is starting the project again for herself and has all the instructions up on her blog. She is starting today and going until Sunday. If you go to her blog the last 3 or 4 posts are all about this project. She is so great for giving ideas and details and getting you excited to create something as amazing as she does. I really want to do this project and am hoping to have the motivation to follow through this time. I would love to have a week from a few years ago to compare to. Oh well, I guess I'll have to say that again in a few years when I do another one. Let me know if you decide to do this project, I would love to see your results!

Happy Birthday Mommasita!!!

Today is my mom's birthday. While I am my father's favorite daughter, I am my mother's second favorite child, but I am okay with that. (Sorry Lance, that makes you third.) I love my mom so much, she is so great to always help out with the kids and any other thing I need no matter what it is. I couldn't find any pictures of just my mom (we will need to remedy that) and I didn't think ahead enough to sneak a high school photo from her house. But this is one of my favorite pictures from this year. So here's to you mom, I hope your day is GREAT! I really mean that because of the all caps.

The Office Fans Alert

The best place in the world (The Target Dollar Spot, of course) has quite a spread of The Office themed items. Notepads, list pads, pens, pencils etc. I picked up this notepad. I am going to leave Josh all sorts of sweet notes all around the house with this baby.
Who has two thumbs and loves The Dollar Spot? This girl.

Top Five: Funniest Quotes from The Office

Loved it! Last night's episode was so funny. The proposal was THE BEST (!) and you can't compete with that so I decided to list my favorite quotes today because HELLO, where would we be without "That's what she said." I use that one all the time, just ask Josh, he loves it when I pull out a that's what she said.

1. Phyllis: I wonder what people like about me... [pause] Probably my jugs.

2. Kevin: Pam you weigh 226 pounds?
Holly: Almost Kevin.
Pam: Not almost though, Holly, not close to 200.
Holly: Math is hard.

3. Angela: I have a nice comforter and several cozy pillows, I usually read a chapter of a book and it's lights out by 8:30, that's how I sleep at night.

4. Angela: [yelling at Kevin] Listen, Dummy! It's not that hard! All you have to do is take the numbers from the sales report and type them into a master spreadsheet. A GD monkey could do it. I do not understand why you can't do it.
Holly: No! You DO NOT talk to him like that.
Angela: But he's an idiot.
Kevin: Hey.
Holly: He is not an idiot--
Kevin: Thank you, Holly.
Holly: --he is mentally challenged. But he's doing a super job here.
Kevin: Wait back up. Do you think that I'm retarded?

5. Dwight Schrute: [to Pam] Fax this for me.
Jim Halpert: Come on, man, she goes to New York in like ten minutes.
Dwight Schrute: It's not going to take her ten minutes to fax it, Jim. If I don't see you again, good-bye. Well, actually I'll see you when you give me the fax confirmation so, never mind.

Don't worry I didn't type these all from memory, I found this great site The Office Quotes. Quotes from every episode. Yessssssssssss! (that's from Napoleon Dynamite quotes.)

What's the matter with Baby Molly?

Just last week, Josh was insisting that I call the doctor's office and ask them what was wrong with our daughter and why wasn't she walking. Not wanting to be laughed at by the medical personnel I used to work with, I put that phone call off. Instead I assured him she would walk when she was ready to. Plus, I was pretty sure she knew how and was just refusing. She's a good mix of us, stubborn and lazy. And what do you know, I was right. Surprise, surprise! She took her first real unassisted steps today and has not stopped.

.

Just to clarify, nothing is wrong with Baby Molly. Josh is stubborn and I am lazy.

Red Alert

Target Dollar Spot has new stuff today!!! Really cute Halloween and fall stuff, magnetic list pads (great for VTing!), tin pails and buckets, Thanksgiving coloring place mats, cookie decorations, halloween socks and a bunch of other stuff I forced myself not to look at today. Maybe tomorrow.

Also watch out if you are driving down main street in American Fork today. The police are out in full force on their fancy motor bikes. They are running secret missions, sending "pedestrians" through the crosswalk by Papa John's and seeing if you Yield. If you don't you'll be sorry!

Best Books

For the past two months I have received emails from Amazon.com about the Best Books of the Month. Since many of you (like me) are avid readers I thought I would share what Amazon shared with me. It is nice to have a recommendation of new books to read that others find interesting. Plus, how many times can you really re-read the Twilight Series. That is a rhetorical question.

There are links to the previous months (back to 2007) at the bottom of the page, and lists of the top sellers for the month. Go forth and read! But come back and leave comments about any good books you've read.

I am going to make a permanent link to the next post on the side bar and start a list of books I have read and would recommend. I know, you've been hoping this would happen. Don't ever say I don't make dreams come true.

Top Five: Season Premiere's

One great thing about fall (there are a million great things, so it's hard to narrow it down to just one) is the new season of all my favorite show's starting. I can't wait. I need to give my Tivo box a pep talk. Reassure him he CAN and WILL record all my favorite shows, that back-to-back comedy's will not wear him out, that Thursday alone will not cause his insides to melt, and that I will reward him for a job well done. Like I will dust him off a little more regularly (so like twice a year) if that will help to avoid any malfunctions. May I present to you today's top five.

TOP FIVE SEASON PREMIERE'S I CAN'T WAIT FOR:
1. Grey's Anatomy
2. The Office
3. 30 Rock
4. My Name is Earl
5. Lost
I am editing my #5 since Lost doesn't start until next year. My new #5 is The Amazing Race!

Two T's

The first T is Tina Fey. She is hilarious. If you don't watch 30 Rock, you are missing out. Sometimes I love it more than The Office. Gasp. Shock. What the french, toast? I know, it's hard to say that, but really it's a darn funny show. But back to the T, the hilarious Tina Fey. You have to watch THIS VIDEO (I don't know how to do that fancy stuff of making a video appear) of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler doing Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton on SNL. F to the UNNY. I laughed. So hard. I need to give credit to Josh for finding this video since he reads The Huff Po regularly. He said I was going to make enemies by posting about this, but I told him even republicans can appreciate good humor. Am I right, or am I right? You know funny when you see it don't you? Especially funny about a hockey mom.
Moving on.
The second T is Target. That alone is enough, really. But the Target Dollar Spot (which is always fun) is super fun right now. They have great scrapbooking stuff, chipboard letters, cute fall ribbon and Molly's favorite Elmo board books. Love it. They have a bunch of other cute fall and Halloween stuff that is $2.50. Still a deal. I got some cute metal baskets to put my cute scrapbook stuff in. Cute.

SIX

Today is Gavin's sixth birthday! How time flies when your a wild and crazy kid. We were eating dinner the other night and Owen said I needed to fix Gavin a special breakfast for his birthday. Since he is my cereal boy I told him I would have a fresh box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch ready for him. Then Gavin said why don't you serve me breakfast in bed. Right then I told him no it would be too messy, but as I thought it over I figured why not, only I didn't tell him. I figured a surprise breakfast in bed would be fun. This morning I took everything down to his bedroom, he was awake and just laying on his bed. I told him to get back under the covers and on his pillow so he could eat his breakfast. No, I was just kidding was his reply. He flat out refused. I forced him to at least pose by his breakfast props for a picture, to prove later on that I had tried and he wanted nothing to do with it. Needless to say he did not want to smile for any picture. This was the best I could get from him.

He is smiling, yet looks like he might break into tears since his Mom is so mean.

Here are SIX facts about Gavin:

1. He is a repeater. Any movie line, commercial, TV show you are watching with him, anything his sister says, is immediately repeated.

2. He has been logging on to the computer and running Nick Jr., Disney, and Cartoon Network Games for as long as I can remember.

3. He is our fake sleeper.

4. He produces tears the size of Texas. If he is laying down while crying, his ears fill up with tears, it happened all the time when he was a baby.

5. He loves to take baths and swim in the tub water. He gets his goggles on and plugs his nose and stays under the water for as long as he can.

6. He has a reputation as a maniac, and most of it is well deserved, but he is a sweet boy who loves his sister so much and is a great cuddler.

SIX names we call Gavin, besides Gavin:

1. Finnegan. Josh seriously wanted to name him Finnegan. I had a hard time with it then, not so much now.

2. Midget. He is our shorty magoo.

3. Yo Gavva, Gavva. Compliments of Yo Gabba, Gabba, which we watch all the time.

4. Owen. I do this all the time.

5. Long Haired Hippie. Take a look at the picture, his hair is long and he loves it.

6. Jimmy. Jimmy Neutron. Jimmy, what the heck are you doing?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAVIN

We Love You!!!!

Membership Warehouse Club aka COSTCO

I love costco. Love it. I even just like to say it. Costco. Kind of like in The Lion King, when the hyenas say Mufasa and start twitching. Where else can you drop a hundred bucks (or more) like it was no body's business, and then walk ten feet and have a delicious lunch/dinner? Having just returned from the giant warehouse club, it has inspired today's top five. Hold on to your pants, it's a double header.

TOP FIVE THINGS I ALWAYS BUY AT COSTCO (not counting a churro and a berry smoothie, you have to buy those it's the law):
1. Milk. Red (whole for Molly) and blue (for the rest of us).
2. Medium Cheddar Cheese. $5.29 today people. I was at Macey's yesterday and cheese was $7.99-$9.99. What a savings. You should go to costco to buy cheese alone.
3. Capri Suns. For the brown bagger of our family, and his little brother who sneaks them all the time.
4. Kirkland Baby Wipes.
5. Dino Nuggets. Not just for kids you know.

TOP FIVE THINGS I WANT TO BUY AT COSTCO (but don't):
1. Whatever fun children's play thingy they have in the front of the store.
2. Dunford chocolate donuts.
3. A flat screen TV.
4. Whatever fun children's bed set they have in the middle of the store. Remember the fun pirate one?
5. The big fat package of Sharpie's with all the possible colors of the rainbow.

P.S. The Ride Leader hates (stong word, I know) Costco. What is wrong with him??? Never mind, don't answer that.

September 11, 2008

That's Mr. Ride Leader to you.

I am amazingly proud to announce the progress Josh has made in this little hobby he calls mountain biking. He is currently serving as the Ride Leader for the Bike Peddler's weekly mountain bike rides. Not sure if he needs to be set apart to fulfill this calling to his greatest ability, but I do know how much happier he is when he comes home from a great ride. So, if your husband needs to spend more time away from his family, while riding around the mountains and trails in the dirt and mud, send him here (yes, thank you, I was serving as blog consultant and it felt real good to have him asking me for help for a change) for the schedule.

Don't worry, you won't really have to call him Ride Leader, he only makes me do that while were in the thralls of passion. I know, I can't hardly believe I wrote that either, what's gotten in to me today. It must have been the mint brownie I ate from Flour Girls & Dough Boys, boy was it GOOD!

That's my Girl!

While lounging around, watching TV yesterday, Josh let a fluff. Okay, let's be honest, it was a great big fart. Without any hesitation, Molly sounded off with a " Da da EEEEEEWWWWWWW". It melted my heart. She won't walk, but she perfectly calls her father on his disgusting bodily functions. That's my girl!

Top Five: Things I watched this summer

I am a sucker for TV. And it doesn't even have to be good TV. While I am anxiously awaiting the season premiere of all my favorite shows this fall, I wanted to clue you in on some of the great shows you might have missed this summer. Today's TOP FIVE:
Things I watched this summer, and you should have too:
1. Project Runway. I have been hooked since season 1. It is like The Real World except on Bravo, with lots more gay people, and they have to make clothes. I love it! The season is only half over, so you can still tune in. Lucky you.
2. Wipeout. This show is hilarious and it's fun for the whole family.
3. The Olympics. I stayed up late every night to watch, did you?
4. America's Got Talent. This show has everything. Talented people, crazy untalented people, Jerry Springer, tears, unforgiving audience, and a british judge (just not one as hot as Simon).
5. Swingtown. WHAT? How'd that get on this list?
